Ryan Williams Obituary

On September 10th, 2021 Ryan D. Williams, 32 of Oakland, CA left this earth unexpectedly while pursuing his passions with friends in his beloved Sierra Nevada Mountains. Born and raised in Avon, CT, Ryan graduated from Avon High School in 2007. He attended Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston, MA and left Connecticut for the West Coast at the age of 20 in pursuit of his adult path. Ryan graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from Cal Berkeley in 2018 and had a career in laser communication technology in the Bay Area. Ryan's move to California fed his adventurous soul. He discovered people and places that nurtured his creative spirit. He found happiness with his partner Sarah Howard and their dog Banjo. He was blessed with a vibrant community of friends, artists and people that fed his intellect. He loved the outdoors, adventure and his community both in Santa Barbara and the Bay Area. He was a passionate advocate for the environment. Ryan valued learning, teaching and enlightening others by sharing his knowledge. Those who knew him remember him as a warm, earnest, and fiercely intelligent man. Ryan is survived by his parents Doug Williams (Lisa Linn) of Canton, CT, Laurie Isaacson (Ben) of Avon, CT, his siblings Stephanie Williams of Sydney, Australia and Tyler Williams of Boston, MA. Also, his maternal grandmother Brenda Bria of Kill Devil Hills, NC and paternal grandmother Elaine Williams of Glastonbury, CT. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Lawrence Bria and paternal grandfather John (Jack) Williams. He is the oldest brother, oldest cousin of 18, beloved nephew to his 10 Aunts and Uncles and dearly loved by the many people whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 19th from 1 to 5pm at the Masonic Lodge grounds at 123 River Rd, Collinsville CT. Dearest Ryan, I had the honor of working with you for one year at SBCC in the dance program. You always held the best puppy energy, so motivated and willing and inspired by those around you, while inspiring us. Your strength and ability in an advanced modern dance company leaves me eternally impressed. I will always hold that piece & process close to my heart. Your spirit is remembered and felt. We will spin fire together in the next life. Much love and peace to you and loved ones....Blessings, Kaycee

I only worked with Ryan rather briefly through conference calls, and we didn't have the opportunity to meet in person, but he was always warm and cheerful on our calls, and shared many technical insights. I will miss him.
