Francis Pierce Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartwright Funeral Home - Randolph on Mar. 16, 2026.
Francis "Frank" B. Pierce, of Brockton, formerly of Avon, passed away quietly on March 6, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on July 12, 1965 in Brockton, Frank was the cherished son of Gerald Pierce of Avon and the late Frances (Hannon) Pierce.

A proud graduate of Avon High School, Class of 1983, Frank worked for many years as the lead mechanic at Rent-All in Avon, before working at Keolis (formerly MBCR) as the Diesel House machinist for nearly 15 years. There he was known by his colleagues for his knowledge, dry wit, as well as his sharp tongue.

Beyond his professional life Frank was a man of many interests and talents. His hands were rarely still, as he was very handy and never passed on an opportunity to fix whatever was broken. This determination extended beyond just the mechanical, as he was known for his love of puzzles, the daily crosswords, and monthly poker games with those he held closest. On summer nights Frank could be found enjoying the night air on the tailgate of his Chevy Silverado, relaxing in his screenhouse or simply watching the night sky. He spent time listening to thunder during spring storms, counting the time between lighting strikes.

Frank is survived by his two daughters: Rachel Goodsell of Belchertown and Devon MacNevin of Gardner, as well as his four granddaughters: Lydia, Emilia, Abigail, and Penelope. He also leaves behind his brother, Gerald Pierce of CO, and his sisters Jean Adams of Avon and Julie Modes of Brockton. He joins his late brother, and best friend, Steven Pierce in death.

Franks absence will be profoundly felt by his nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances who found him a constant source of support, humor, and sarcasm. His character embodied strength, sacrifice and helpfulness; attributes that were the foundation of all the relationships he held throughout his life.

In every facet of his life, Frank left an indelible mark on those he touched. His passing is not just the loss of a man, but the loss of a presence that was larger than his humble life. Frank's memory will be held in the hearts of all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, March 21st, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St., Randolph. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
