Sean Burns Obituary
Sean M. Burns, age 35, of Deep River passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 31, 2016. He was born in New Haven, son of Joan and Michael Burns and grew up in Deep River. He graduated from Valley Regional High School as a member of the Class of 1999 and earned a degree in Liberal Arts from Green Mountain College in Vermont. Sean was employed by Amtrak as a machine operator for six years. He loved soccer, which he played most of his life from grade school through college. His passions where snowboarding, fishing, cooking, gardening, travel, music and adventure. In addition to his parents of Deep River, he leaves his sister, Courtney H. Burns, of Denver, Colorado, his long time four legged companion of eleven years, Stella, his girlfriend, Desiree LaSota, of Poughkeepsie, New York, his paternal grandmother, Shirley Burns, of Old Lyme, his maternal grandmother, Doris Rogan, of Cheshire, and many aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him dearly. Sean Burns may four winds blow you safely home!!! Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from3:00PM to 6:00PM. Sean's funeral service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:00AM at The First Congregational Church of Deep River, 1 Church Street in Deep River. I know personally how amazing Sean was from going to school with him for a few years. As everyone has said he had a smile that was contagious and powerful; that will be my favorite memory of him. He was a positive and loved person and I can vouch for many of his friends from Green Mountain College when I say he will be sorely missed. I hope you can all find solace in knowing that we are all spiritual beings living a human experience and we will see him again. My condolences to you all!

We shared Sean's love for the game of soccer. Always admired Sean's athletic ability and his contributions to the Valley soccer program. He is gone too soon and will be sorely missed by his hometown community. Our sincerest condolences to his family.

Sean always had a big smile on his face and some of my best memories are of growing up in our small town area playing soccer together. He had a nose for the ball and was a good finisher, converting countless opportunities into goals for us during the years of our youth. Later in our teen years when we were no longer on the field together but still lived in the same area, whenever we came across each other he still had the same big smile when saying hi. My thoughts are with his family.

Sean .. I did not know you personally but I do know and Love Desiree. I know you made her SMILE. I know you made her feel loved. I went to Green Mountain with Sean and had the good fortune of calling him a friend and teammate on the soccer field. I will always remember his kindness, warm smile and tenacious attitude on the field. I am deeply saddened by his loss and hope that good memories fill your hearts and mind in these trying days.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss I attended school with Sean at valley. To say we were not friends is impossible because he was friends with everyone. He had an infectious smile and a general happiness you couldn't help but to be happy around him. He was a great person and he will be missed tremendously.
