Sebastian Amato Obituary

Sebastian A. Amato,"Sebby" 90, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. He was born in Alexandria, Egypt to his parents, Santo and Belinda (Barbagallo) Amato. Sebby leaves behind his devoted wife Lucy (Forte) and three loving children and their spouses, Margaret (Thomas) Lionetti, Thomas Amato, and JoAnn Amato (Neal Waananen), his two beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Justin (Michele) Lionetti and Lauren (Eric) Speringo, his two step- grandchildren, Erik and Audrey Waananen, his two precious great grandchildren, Cameron and Reagan Lionetti. He was predeceased by his brother Mario, and his brothers and sisters in law, Benjamin Fiamma, Anthony and Josephine Papa, Sebastian Forte, and Concetta Arcaria. He is survived by his only sister Michelina Fiamma, sister-in-law, Elaine Amato and in-law's Ninna (Carmelo) Fazzina, Salvatore Arcaria, and Anthony (Judy) Forte. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Sebby proudly served in the Korean War. He enjoyed working at the Newington Children's Hospital as a painter, he especially loved creating murals for the kids. His hobbies were fishing, playing cards with their many friends and family, watching the New York Yankees and the ladies UConn basketball team. He loved spending time making puzzles and cooking for the family. Sebastian will live in our hearts and memories forever! Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday evening, November 21, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday morning, November 22, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Church of the Holy Spirit at Annunciation Parish, Newington. Interment will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 515 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
