Simone Tyrell Obituary

Simone T. Tyrell, 39, of Windsor passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at Hartford Hospital. Born January 23, 1976 in Jamaica, daughter of Hopeton Tyrell of Windsor and the late Roslyn (Lloyd) Tyrell. Simone was employed the last couple of years at The New School in NY, where she completed her MFA and focused on Nonfiction writing, although she also enjoyed writing poetry. She actively volunteered in her community and some of her accomplishments were working in the archives at the Wadsworth Athenaeum, translating the Selden Warner papers for the Glastonbury Historical Society and helping with conservation at the Connecticut Historical Society's library. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed sharing that love with children and adults alike. During her time as a guide at the Mark Twain House, she delighted visitors with her humorous interpretations and stories. She was an adventurous person who loved the outdoors, gardening, traveling, art, astronomy, cycling, music, going to museums, fashion, history, science and interior decorating and much more. Simone was a private person, who was fiercely protective of her family, proud of being a descendant of the Maroon people in Jamaica, and a true humanitarian who would give everything she had to the people she loved and anyone in need. She lived life to the fullest, and was full of intense emotion, passion and an undying curiosity. Besides her father, she is survived by her seven siblings, Jacqueline Gordon of Windsor, Keith Tyrell of Bloomfield, Christopher Tyrell of Windsor, Hugh Tyrell of Bloomfield, Dawn Tyrell of Windsor, Lavern Thomas and her husband David of South Windsor, Diana Asiam and her husband Prince of East Hartford; and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles , cousins, friends and loved ones with whom she was very involved with throughout their lives. She was predeceased by a sister, Sharon Barnaby, and grandmother, Romie Morgan affectionately called Dearma. Her family will receive friends Monday, November 9, 2015 from 10-11 AM at The First Cathedral Church, 1151 Blue Hills Ave., Bloomfield, followed by services at 11 AM at the church. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of arrangements. To leave on-line condolences please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Simone's death. We took a class together at the New School and not only was she a talented writer, she was a wonderful person, full of energy, love and good vibes. I really enjoyed being around her. May her memory be a blessing, and may her family know no more sorrow.

Simone lived her life with courage, determination, passion and most of all love. She was the most influential person in my life. Everywhere I go, everything I do, I see us. Our experiences, our conversations, our lives together. Simone was hugely supportive of everything that I did. She was always pushing me. Never letting me settle. She challenged me intellectually. She taught me so much, but ultimately she taught me the true meaning of love. I will never forget her. Through everything she gave to me, and everyone we know, I see her energy, efforts and spirit. She will always live on through what she gave to all of us. Simone would be so proud and happy to see the people that she loved living well and living up to the potential that she saw in all of us.
