Stanton Drazen Obituary

Stanton M. Drazen, 82, passed away peacefully in his home on December 4, 2019. Stan was born in Binghamton, NY and attended Binghamton Central High School where he played baseball, basketball and football. He moved on to Dartmouth College, his treasured alma mater, where he continued his athletic pursuits. His proudest athletic achievement was pitching in the 1958 NCAA Tournament at Fenway Park. After college, he attended Syracuse Law School where he met his wife and lifelong partner Carole Livingston. As a young lawyer, Stan worked for the New York State Attorney General's Office Under Governor Nelson Rockefeller. Soon after, he "hung a shingle" and ran his solo law practice for more than 40 years before retiring and moving to Palm Beach County, FL and ultimately to West Hartford, CT. Over the years, Stan refocused his competitive spirit on the game of golf and was a successful amateur golfer who played in tournaments across the country. He was always ready to take a press on the last hole of any match. Stan generously volunteered his time and talents serving on the boards of the Binghamton Boys and Girls Club, the Greater Binghamton Airport and Broome Community College as well as Vestal Hills Country Club In Binghamton, NY and Delaire Country Club In Delray Beach, FL. Stan joins his parents A. Murphy and Mildred as well as his two brothers Bruce and Louis who pre-deceased him. He is survived by his wife Carole, his son Bradford and daughter-in-law Lauren as well as his beloved grandchildren Noah, Maxwell and Liv of West Hartford, CT and sister-in-law Peggy Creese of Cambridge, MA. The family has chosen to have a private memorial service and will sit shiva on Sunday, December 8 from 4-7pm at the home of Brad and Lauren, 1520 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Drazen Family Fund, Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford, 333 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117. The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT has charge of arrangements.

My goodness! What can you say about Stanton Drazen? He & I were so different on paper but I absolutely loved the man. He was larger than life in every way. So fearless. That was Stan.

Kathy & I had many wonderful moments with Stanton & Carole. Dinners at Number 5, golf trips to Vermont, Hershey, Florida, and countless rounds of golf at Vestal Hills CC. I can still see Stan asking "shall we poop it up on the back 9?". Our deep condolences to Carole, Brad & Lauren and the family. Fondly, Curt & Kathy Minaya

Dear Carol, Brad, & Family......It was with much sadness from my son John, that I learned of Stan's death. I know that my late husband, Richard Aronsohn & Stan, were friends & shared many good times at Dartmouth, & that wonderful Dartmouth fellowship that they were so lucky to be such a part of. It seems like only yesterday that we each dropped off our sons, John & Brad to begin their Freshmen year at Dartmouth. Perhaps Stan & Dick will now meet again, & will have many laughs about their escapades at Dartmouth! Thinking about you & your family....Debby Aronsohn Neuner

Stan was much more than a friend... he made my life better in many ways for which I am so grateful. His enthusiasm for life's moments created lasting memories. Despite his bravado he was a humble man and loved and cared for every person he knew or met!
To Carol and Brad, our family shares your sadness and we send our love and personal regards.
Would love to share moments with you at a future date.

Drazen Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Mr Drazen's passing. He was friends & counsel to my family, (Brooks, Cordisco & Friedah) for many many years. He was always a phone call away. May he rest in peace and golf now to his heart's content. And may his family keep him close in your hearts.

God Bless

Dear Carole, Brad & family,
I was very sorry to hear of Stan's passing. For over 70 years, from our first few days in 7th grade at West Jr., Stan and I were good friends. It is really tough to lose someone you have been that close to for so many years. We both loved the game of golf and played it together from the Atlantic to the Pacific (he with much more success than I). There was nobody ever more fun to be around and our stories would make a very interesting book. Those of us who knew Stan well have memories which will never be forgotten. Carole, my thoughts and prayers are with Stan and your whole family at this very sad time.
