Stephen August

1926 - 2018

Niantic- Dr. Stephen August, 92, of 29 West End Ave., died Thursday May 17, 2018 at Bayview Healthcare. Dr. August was born on March 24, 1926 in New Britain, CT. He was the son of Antonio and Rose (Pascuci) Agostinucci. He Joined the US Marines and honorably served in the South Pacific area in WWII. He attended Cheshire Academy and went on to receive a B.A. from Drake University. He earned a M.A. and a P.h.D. In education administration from the University of Connecticut. Stephen married Elizabeth Morris on June 15, 1956 in Mansfield, CT. Dr. August held the positions of Assistant Superintendent and the Superintendent of Cheshire School system from 1958 to 1984. Dr. August worked on building the early intervention pre-school program at Darcey School for Children with learning needs (Stephen August Early Intervention Center). Dr. August is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth, Son Stephen August, Stephanie Miller and Helen Klett. To honor Mrs. August's wishes no service will be held.
