Stephen Korab Obituary

Steve Korab, age 63, died on August 23, 2015 at his home in Washington, D.C. Born in Middletown to the late Helen and Dr. John Korab, he was raised in Higganum. A 1969 graduate of Middletown High School, he received a B.A. from Tufts University and an M.A. from Columbia University. Steve ran a building renovation business and enjoyed cooking for friends. He traveled to China, England and Germany, and was most gratified by the times he spent as a site manager for two Habitat for Humanity projects, one after a tsunami in Sri Lanka, and the other in Poland. He never met a stranger, and was always willing to help a needy person. He is survived by his beloved daughter and greatest joy, Molly of Seattle WA, his siblings John Korab and his wife Sarah of Weston MA, Patricia Korab and her husband Kevin Rosswurm of Hudson OH, Bill Korab and his wife Cindy of Warren RI, Mary Beth Frisch and her husband Bob of Westford MA, and Maggie Korab and her husband Brian Yankee of Shrewsbury MA. He is also survived by three nieces, nine nephews and two great nieces. Funeral services were held in Washington D.C.

Steve and I lived in Houston Hall our freshman year at Tufts. He was one of the most open, honest and sincere people I knew there, and he was filled with goodness. We did not stay in touch after Tufts, but clearly he made such an impression on me that I remember him nearly 50 years after I met him. God bless you, Steve.

Hello to anyone who may read this. My name is Aletheia Meredith Mystea, and when I knew Steve, it was Meredith Uhl, of Barrington RI. Steve and I had a close relationship during 1969-1973/74. We met while I was at Centenary College for Women and he was at Tufts. We visited each other's homes....I was at the Korab home for Easter dinner one year and met all siblings I believe. My Dad hired him to paint the Barrington house one summer. He and I lost touch sometime after 1974. I found out about his passing Nov. 9, 2016. As this 2cd anniversary approaches, I would very much like to hear from anyone who may remember me. My heart is full of feelings and memories along with family, friends and Molly. I extend my deepest, heartfelt condolences to everyone. I have been sending prayers out since I found out last year. All blessings of continued comfort and healing to everyone from me. Aletheia Meredith Mystea. email: [email protected]. Colorado phone: 970-224-9950.
