Theresa Basile

Theresa (Scanlon) Basile, 73, passed away on November 5th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years Frank Basile. She was born in Hartford and raised in Newington by John "Jack" and Madeline Scanlon. After graduating from Newington High School and Manchester Community College, she began her 23 year career at Cardiology PC where she made countless friends and eventually retired.

Terri had many passions in life but spending time with her family and cooking were at the top of that list. She enjoyed countless Sundays around the dinner table and loved to host holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved cooking and sharing her meatballs for friends and family. She also loved to sit around the table sharing stories, laughing, and drinking her coffee.

Terri was like a mom to so many people. She was a selfless and giving person who took pride in taking care of others. She loved to give gifts to others because it brought her joy and comfort. There was often an Amazon or QVC box arriving at her door.

She was so proud of her two boys. She loved going to watch them coach lacrosse and was proud of the men they became. She was especially close to her two daughters-in-law. They would talk on the phone daily sharing laughs and tears, and enjoyed every minute they would spend together. Of all her accomplishments, the title "Nana" was her favorite. She and Juliana were best buds. They would drive all over the state to shop, eat, or just hang out somewhere new. They enjoyed arts and crafts, movies, and silly dance parties at sleep overs. Juliana shares her kind heart, love for cooking meatballs and joy for gift giving. She will be deeply missed by friends and family and all who knew her. She is now reunited with Frank and pain free.

Terri leaves behind her son Scott and his wife Barbara Basile of Bolton; and son Brian and his wife Kristen Basile of Manchester. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughter Juliana Basile of Bolton, and all her grand pups that she loved. She leaves her brothers Charlie Scanlon of Newington, John Scanlon of Southington, Jim and Cindy Scanlon of Manchester, Kathy Strong of Hebron, Rick Scanlon of Newington, and Tom and Laurie Scanlon of Newington. She is also survived by her sister-in-law MaryJane and Brad Pederson of North Carolina, and brother-in-law John and Lisa Basile of Glastonbury as well as countless nieces and nephews who she loved like her own children.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. We will celebrate her life with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Newington Memorial. She will be laid to rest in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.
