Thomas Saso Obituary



Tom Saso, 76, of Spring Hill, FL passed away on July 27, 2017 as a result of anaphylactic shock. Tom, son of Rosario and Martha (Abbruscato) was born in Queens, New York, educated in Valley Stream, NY and joined the U.S. Air Force right after gradation from Valley Stream Central High, serving honorably for four years. He lived in Connecticut for most of his life in the Bristol/Hartford area, and Old Lyme in the summer enjoying the sun and swimming. Upon retiring he fulfilled his dream of moving to Florida to enjoy the sun and water year round. Not one to be idle, Tom joined the Anderson Snow Senior Softball League, as pitcher and was also currently serving as its commissioner. He was a life-long Yankee and New York Giants fan making lifelong friends wherever he lived. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his sister, Ginny Losito, and many other loving relatives happy to have Tom join there softball game. He is survived by Maree Aparo, his significant other of 17 years, his sister, Mary Kiniry of Danbury, a son Thomas C. (Jennifer), grandson Thomas C. and step grandchildren Evan and Hailey, of Somers, CT. He is also survived by his nieces Elizabeth Kiniry (Scott Jackson), Albany, NY; Beth Losito (Jeff Brown) nephew's Christopher and Michael Losito, nieces Maeve and Hollis Jackson, grand nephew Brendon Brown, and James (Truss) Saso, an uncle/aunt of NJ as well as many other cousins and friends in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Florida. There are no calling hours. Tom would be very happy for any donations to be made to the Anderson Senior Softball League, James Graham, Treasurer; 4003 Indian River St., Spring Hill, FL 34609 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Gregory The Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd, Danbury, CT 06811 at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017, burial will follow at St Mary's Cemetery, Turkey Plain Rd, Bethel, CT. 06801. My son and I were truly saddened by the passing of Tom...for nearly 27 yrs his friendship, kindness and sense of humor was a true blessing for us.He was such a caring person and will truly be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, my father referred to him as "Salt of the Earth" .
