Timothy Dowling Obituary

Timothy Dowling, 60, of New Britain died of Mantle Cell Lymphoma on Wednesday, November 22. He wanted you to all to know that. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his beloved family, who he considered his best friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda (McKenna) Dowling, his daughter Megan, his son Matthew and his fiancé Melissa, and his son Michael. Together, they gave him the greatest joy in his life. He is also survived by his brother John and wife Elizabeth, brother Chuck, brother Bill, and sister Lisa Salamon. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Anne Dowling and his parents-in law Thomas and Nellie McKenna. Tim, better known as Tiny, was the life of the party for a big and loving extended family. That included Kathy and Ralph, Tommy and Jeannine, Patty and Jim, and several nephews and nieces who surrounded him always with love through their good times together. Friends were a very important part of his life. He made them his family, too. Nobody was safe from his one-liners. The more he got on you, the more he loved you. He loved sharing the holidays with them all, hosting memorable parties. Good times together was his favorite tradition. He was grateful for the boys and all his kids' friends, whom he made his own. During his ailment, Tim befriended many of the professional caretakers who helped him along the way. His family would like to thank Hospital of Central Connecticut's C5 team and Hospice for their exceptional care. Tim worked hard, but he lived and loved harder. Throughout his career, highlighted by the last 19 years at CCSU, he touched many lives as the man at Copernicus Hall. Tiny, however, was a rock star. He loved music, especially classic rock, jamming out on the air guitar. He loved pools, lottery, horses, and the casino, but they did not always love him back. He did find great success, however, in gardening - which always harvested with abundance. He also loved car shows, the Yankees, the Giants, antiques, vacations, his dogs, flannels, and Hawaiian shirts. He truly lived the high life and he made us all promise to do the same. Cheers. A time of visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 from 4-7pm at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Please join us in church for his funeral liturgy and celebrate his life, on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 at 10AM in St. Joseph Church, 195 S. Main Street, New Britain. There will be no burial services. Linda and Family,
So sorry to hear this terrible news. Tim was a great guy! I worked with him at CCSU for 17 years. He was always available to lend a helping hand. The words "it is not in my job description" were not part of his vocabulary. And he worked for real cheap--root beer Dum dum pops! I will truly miss Tim. He was a great friend and co-worker. I will cherish the many laughs and good stories that we shared.

Sometimes in life, you meet someone in an un-ordinary way , and it becomes instant karma and your lives become intertwined. This happened when I met Tim and Linda for the first time. In some of his worse days, his smile lit up the room...and my life. He was always in my thoughts and in my heart...he truly was a rock star.
The love of this family is what is beautiful in this world❤ I am so sad.
