Victor Dubaldo Obituary

DUBALDO, Victor Joseph Victor Joseph Dubaldo, 85, beloved husband of the late Murray O'Brien Dubaldo (Paris, TX) passed from this life on Saturday, (October 13, 2007) at 12:28 a.m. His beloved children, Mary Ann of South Windsor and Marshall of Bolton were at his side. There was also a special place in his heart for Mary Ann's husband, Bill Steinnecker, who he truly loved as his own son. Also the true lights of his life, were his granddaughters and their husbands, Megan (Steinnecker) Puniello and Jesse Puniello of Manchester, Lauren (Steinnecker) Gallagher and her husband, Jim Gallagher of Brooklyn, NY and Margaret Dubaldo of Bolton. Victor also leaves his sister, Lillian Amadeo of Manchester and his brothers, Bruno DuBaldo, wife Clara and Peter DuBaldo and his wife, Eleanor and many many nieces and nephews who all appreciated his generosity, wit and good humor. He was predeceased by his parents Guilio and Gemma (Agostinelli) d'Ubaldo, his brother Anthony DuBaldo and his wife Rose and his sister Angelina Sartor and her husband Joe and his brother-in-law Primo Amadeo. Victor was a wonderful musician, with the ability to convey deep feelings and emotions in his music. Beginning as a child of eight years old, he and his brother, Bruno traveled the state singing duets and playing music in talent contest winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in almost every one. In the late 1940's after the war, he formed with his brother Bruno and others, ' The Connecticut Wranglers' playing Western music on WDRC every Saturday morning for several years, and entertaining sell -out crowds at many other venues around New England. He also played several events with Bill Haley and the Comets and was offered a full time position touring with him. He declined this opportunity to remain close to the family he loved. Vic, Peter and Bruno were always a key part of all the neighborhood parties. Their music was heard throughout the Homestead Park area. Many people enjoyed the music of the Vic Dubaldo Orchestra at weddings, anniversaries, and other celebrations. Vic, was an Army veteran of the 'Battle of the Bulge' during World War III. He was proud of his service and truly loved his country. Victor stated and operated Vic's Pizza on Middle Turnpike from 1951 until 1968. He remained a wonderful cook, and was sought after by his children and grandchildren to prepare some of his delicious Italian specialities. His homemade wine graced the pantries of his children and many of his friends and will always be remembered. He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Army and Navy Club, the American Legion, the Elks, and RIMS (Rhode Island Mobile Sports Fisherman) where he spent hours at his favorite spot - Watch Hill, R.I. Visiting hours will be held a the the John F. Tierney Funeral Home at 219 West Center Street, Manchester on Tuesday, October 16, from 4 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Saint Bridget's Church on Main Street in Manchester at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 17. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fidelco Guide Dogs or American Heart Association.

VIC:
YOU WERE ALWAYS READY WITH A SMILE, AND A "SAMPLE OF THE GRAPE." YOU ALWAYS TOOTED YOUR HORN WHEN YOU WENT DOWN DURANT STREET. YOU WERE THE LAST PERSON I SPOKE WITH THE DAY I LEFT FOR ARIZONA. I WAS PUMPING GAS, AND YOU ASKED "GOING ON A TRIP?" WHEN I TOLD HIM YES, AND WHERE, HE GAVE ME A BIG HUG AND A HANDSHAKE, AND WISHED ME LUCK. WE DON'T HAVE A LOT OF GOOD THOUGHTS ABOUT MANCHESTER. BUT YOU ARE AT THE TOP OF THE LIST. AND YOUR "SAMPLE OF THE GRAPE." VIC, REST WELL, AND KEEP PLAYING AND LAUGHING ABOVE THE HEAVENLY GATES.
I'M GLAD I GOT TO KNOW YOU.

Maryann, Bill, Lauren, Megan, Jim and Jesse,
I am so sorry for your loss. Pepe brightened up every room he walked into and we all have fond memories of him smiling and playing the harmonica at all the family events! Finally, he can rest in peace with Gram, by her side and they are together again. He will be missed so dearly, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Love, Erin

Please accept my sincere sympathy. Uncle Vic and Aunt Murray had hearts as big as Dallas. They always made sure we had a good time when we came to visit, treating us like royalty with good food and entertainment. Eleanor Chapman

My sincere sympathy to all the family. I have wonderful memories of the family gatherings with the music. We often talk of Vic's Pizza as we have never found a replacement.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire Dubaldo family. Vic and I taught on Thursday nights at Dubaldo Music Center and would have wonderful chats in between lessons. (I often suspected that he stayed until I was done just to make sure I got home safely.) He often spoke of his family, friends, and adventures. I know he will be sorely missed but not forgotten.
