Violet Izard Obituary

IZARD, Violet Bessie Dulchinos Violet Bessie Dulchinos Izard of West Simsbury, went to be with her Lord last Tuesday (August 21, 2007). She was born April 23, 1927 and grew up in Chicopee Falls, MA, daughter of the late Charles and Antonia Dulchinos. An avid reader, traveler, and adventurer, she graduated from American International College in Springfield, MA, and completed her graduate work at the University of Michigan. Her life's vocation was teaching, and she served in Glencoe, IL; in Farmington, where she served as a school principal; and in West Simsbury, where she was a longtime teacher, director, and librarian at The Master's School. She is pre-deceased by Donald R. Izard of Chicago, IL, her husband of 20 years. She is survived by her son, Chris Izard of West Simsbury; her brothers, John Dulchinos and George Dulchinos of Chicopee Falls; and her nieces and nephews, John, George, Cathy, Tony, Lisa, and David Dulchinos, along with many beloved cousins. A worship service celebrating her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 1, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 124 Old Farms Road, Simsbury, CT, where her soul was nourished over the years and where a memorial garden will be planted in her honor. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations will be collected by the family for hospitality gifts to the oncology/hospice wing at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, where she received exemplary care during her battle with cancer-or donations may be made in her honor to Mission Possible, the Dana-Farber Campaign to Conquer Cancer.

Dear Chris,
My family was so blessed by your Mother. My family actually lived with the Izard's for a time.

I was born while they lived there. She was a dear Christian woman in every sense of the word. She lived what she believed and touched the lives of those who knew her. It is comforting to know that she is now in the presence of our Heavenly Father and that one day we will see each other again. Chris, you are in our family’s thoughts and prayers.

I shall miss my dear cousin, Vi, who was my first childhood playmate. We shared many memories that will always be in my heart. I admired her optimism, her resilience and her faith that kept her strong through some very difficult times.

Losing my cousin Vi will leave a huge hole in my heart. Our parents were extremely close and Vi and I had a special relationship all of our lives.

I thank God for our time together. Vi will be missed at prayer time, but we'll all be together some day in Heaven.
May the Lord bless and comfort the Izard family at this time.

Mrs. Izard was my teacher at Master's. She always was encouraging and fair. I will miss seeing her. She was a great person. I will always remember the cupcakes she made for each student on their birthday each year. It was a very kind gesture and meant a lot to me. I send the Izard family my warmest regards and prayers.
