Walter Schlegel Obituary

SCHLEGEL, Walter F. Walter F. Schlegel, of Trumbull, passed away on Saturday (November 17, 2007). Walter was born May 12, 1933 in Shelton, son of the late Walter J and Dorothy Lyon Schlegel and had been a Trumbull resident since 1968. Walter was Valedictorian of Shelton High 1951 and a graduate of Yale in Chemical Engineering 1955. Walter worked as a Chemical Engineer, and was a trombonist and active member of the Norwalk Symphony. Walter is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Janet B. Schlegel. A devoted husband and father, he also leaves seven children, Paul (Pam) Schlegel of Marlborough, Gary (Nancy) Schlegel of Goshen, NY, Diane (Anthony) Colozzi of Madison, Ellen (David) Hamilla of Monroe, Joan Scott of Madison, Kathy (Chuck) Waldo of Wolcott, and Robert (Babeth) Schlegel of Baton Rouge, La; 13 grandchildren; two brothers Ronald (Charlotte) Schlegel of Shelton and Edward (Ann) Schlegel of Southington. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m. directly in Christ Church Tashua, 5170 Madison Ave, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. in the Redgate- Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Contributions may be made in his memory to Christ Church Tashua.
