William Bosowski Obituary

William P. Bosowski, 94, of East Hartford, beloved husband for 50 years of the late Stanislawa "Stasia" (Pajaczkowski) Bosowski, passed away peacefully on Thursday, (December 26, 2013) at St. Francis Hospital. He closed his eyes for the final time on the same day that his daughter, Sophie, opened her eyes on the world for the first time 61 years ago. Born in Poland on November 18, 1919, son of the late Ludwig and Julia (Tokarz) Bosowski, he was raised in Poland and had lived in Austria and Germany. As a young man, William started playing the accordion, a passion that he would continue to have throughout his life. While in Austria at the conclusion of World War II, he was playing when a young woman named Stanislawa came up on stage and sang with him. The young couple married in 1946 and in 1950 immigrated to the United States settling in Rhode Island and then in East Hartford in 1967. William worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford as a machinist for over 20 years. After his retirement, he received his real estate license and worked for Century 21 in Manchester for many years. Proud of his Polish heritage, William was a member of the Polish National Alliance, Lodge #856 in Hartford. He was a long time parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford and also belonged to the church's Golden Seniors Club. In his spare time and during his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, attending events at the East Hartford South End Senior Citizens Club, ballroom dancing, practicing yoga, and going to concerts at the Manchester Band Shell. He was an avid gardener and raised a variety of fruits and vegetables and even grew his own grapes and made his own wine. He leaves three daughters, Halyna Bosowski of Stonington, Sophie Rooney and her husband Patrick of Manchester, and Wanda Mary Bosowski of Manchester, a grandson, Jason Bosowski of Colrain, MA, many nieces and nephews, and his caring companion for 15 years, Teresa Dymek of East Hartford. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, Mietek, Franek, and Ignac, and three sisters, Adela, Paula, and Jozia. His family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 1-4 p.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Family and friends may gather on Monday, December 30, 10:15 a.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. William's family has requested that memorial donations be made to St. Francis Foundation, 95 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105 or to Visiting Nurses & Health Services, 8 Keynote Dr., Vernon, CT 06066. Sophie, Pat and family,
Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your Dad. At least he is now with your Mom and feeling no pain. He truly had an incredibly long and happy life and had a wonderful family surrounding him. He's in a better place now. Thinking of you and keeping you all in our prayers.

Love,
