MCGILL, William A. William A. McGill 83, of Manchester, beloved husband of Elin (Person) McGill passed away peacefully Friday, (January 20, 2006) at home. He was born June 9, 1922 in Hartford, son of the late Samuel McGill Jr. and Mildred (Whaley) McGill, and had been a resident of Manchester for most of his life. Mr. McGill was a veteran of World War II serving in the 1st Marine Division. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Traveler's Insurance Company until his retirement and most recently he worked at the former Walbaums Supermarket. Besides his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Donald W. and Meg McGill of Old Saybrook, his daughter and son-in-law Judith E. and Gerald Mills of Moosup, six grandchildren; Jennifer and Elizabeth McGill and Scott, David, Jeffrey and Curtiss Weinstein, seven great grandchildren and a half brother Samuel McGill of Broadbrook. A memorial service will be Tuesday, January 24, at 7 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
