He was a former Boy Scout leader in Norwich, a past member of the Agawam Lion's Club, and the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce. Bill was an active member of the Estuary in Old Saybrook and enjoyed volunteering for several causes. His favorite was promoting and following The Tuxedo Junction Band. He recently celebrated his ninety third birthday at Bill's Seafood in Clinton, where he would faithfully show up on Monday evenings to sing and dance to the big band sounds of Tuxedo Junction Band. He leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Janelle and William Lovett of North Kingstown, RI; his son and daughter-in-law, Bradford and Susan Thorpe, of Old Saybrook; his grandchildren, Laura Turgeon, Martha Turgeon Bohachevsky, William Turgeon, Sarah Lovett, Alyona, James and Andrew Thorpe; his sister Irene Thorpe Chapin of Greenfield, MA; and is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. His wife, Dorothy, infant son, Ronald, a young son Douglas, and brother Lawrence Thorpe all predeceased him. Bill had also been grieving the loss of his precious friend and companion, Ruth Kobus, who predeceased him in July. I still think of the house at the center of Agawam as Bill & Dottie's place every day when I pass it. Bill was a wonderful man that lead a full and colorful life. My love and condolences to his family at this time of sadness and loss.

Brad and family,
I'm so sorry to read of your loss. The memory of "Wild Bill" doing the soft-shoe around the old Thorpe's store is still a strong and precious one for me, even all these years later. He was truly one of a kind and I'll never forget him.
My condolences and prayers are with you in your time of loss.

Brad,
What an incredible life your Dad had--I'll never forget his telling me (and it doesn't seem all that long ago) about putting on your skates and trying them out! He was a wonderfully kind and sweet man and has always been one of my most pleasant memories of my office products career.

Dear Brad,Sue and Family: You are in our thoughts and prayers. We didn't know about Ruth either and know that Bill must have been grieving her loss also.
We really enjoyed our visits with them after we moved out of the neighborhood. Bill sure was a fun guy.
We will be thinking of you all at this time.
Sincerely,
Sharon & Doug
