Yuriko CHAMPA Obituary

CHAMPA, Yuriko "Judy" Yuriko "Judy" Champa, 79, of Cromwell, beloved wife of John N. Champa, passed away on Monday, (April 18, 2011) at her home. Born in Japan, she was the daughter of the late Sanshiro and Matsue Ibi. Judy had lived in Cromwell since 1979 and was a member of St. John Church. She was employed by Travelers Insurance for over 20 years, was an avid golfer and bowler. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Kaname Furuyama of China; her brother, Fujitan Ibi of Japan; three sisters-in-law, Teresa Montano and her husband, Robert of Simsbury, Vinsetta Coe and her husband, Richard of CA and Rosann DiMartino and her husband, Philip of Simsbury; caregiver and dear friend, Elza Sajic of Cromwell; two special friends, Josephine Smith and Jessie Handel and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 26 at 10 a.m. at St. John Church, 5 St John Court, Cromwell and interment will follow in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell and in lieu of flowers, may make donations in Judy's memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or National Organization for Rare Disorders, Inc., P.O. Box 1968, Danbury, CT 06813-1968. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
