I would like to give my condolences to the Smith family. When I received the call that David had died, I could not believe it. A family member of mine had just saw him!!! I still cannot believe this. David and I were very good friends. I remember first meeting David, at the time I didn't know how he looked. I walked through the funeral home and I ran across this young man standing back viewing a body eating a snickers candy bar. I thought he was a relative of the deceased. No one else was in the building so I had to ask this person I was looking for David Smith. When you turned around and faced me I remembered that beautiful smile you gave me. Till this day, I still remember our first meeting. I will forever remember the long talks we shared, my phone bill was high!!!! Lol. My visits to Mississippi and making this city girl feel welcome. You will truly be missed.

THIS DAY, THAT MOMENT, MY TEARS AND YOUR EMBRACE. BY FAR THE HAPPIEST SAINTS MOMENT IN MY LIFE AND YOU WERE THERE. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS DAY, I ENJOYED WITH YOU!!!

LOVE

REMEMBER HOW I ALWAYS ADDRESSED YOU AS "LOVE", SOOO MUCH, THAT ONE DAY AS I WAS INTRODUCING YOU TO SOME FRIENDS I HAD TO THINK FOR A SECOND AND REMEMBER YOUR NAME, WAS DAVID, NOT LOVE, REMEMBER HOW FUNNY THAT WAS. WE ALL GOT A KICK OUT OF THAT. I'M SURE I MUST HAVE ALREADY HAD MY FAVORITE, 2 TOM COLLINS AND THE ONLY NAME I COULD REMEMBER AT THAT MOMENT WAS "LOVE".

Subject: Visiting in March

Hi,
I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to finish our conversation last night.
I just wanted to see how you are doing and remind you about planning to visit us in March. Let's start making plans so that I can put in my vacation request. I have to request time off 30 days in advance. So think about it and let me know. I will try to call you again when I get
off today. You can email me back or call me when you get a chance.

Luv Ya
Karen

David this is my sister who was looking forward to meeting you this spring on our trip to Houston that we discussed.

I'm still shocked and I often wake up in the early mornings to call you or wake up expecting your call and then I realize that will never happen again.

That saddens me and I often cry, remembering, "The Way We Were".

To the Smith Family, David is an angel. He was there for us when we needed him in Killeen, TX when my brother Cal passed away. His kind words to our family were so uplifting even after my Dad (Rev. Lowe) passed. David took care of my baby brother and brought him home safely. God Bless the entire family. This is so hard to believe, but God knows best. Love, Elaine Lowe White and Family

David, I remember the night we pulled up next to that black Mercedes and we both said, "what a nice car" and followed the driver to find out what kind of car it was and then you asked me if I liked that car and I said, of course, "I love it". The next time you came to visit me you had the Mercedes and your words to me were, "You told me you liked" so here it is. You were always finding ways to bring a smile to my face and I will miss that. I was overwhelmed that you would change from your love of a Jaguar to a Mercedes, to please me. You were a wonderful person David.

To my David - Thanks for being there with me when the Saints won "Super Bowl 44". I thank you for sharing that day with me as well as many other Saints games. Although football was not your thing, you endured it just for me, because you knew how much the Saints meant to me. I will always love and appreciate you for that.

David, It would take me a lifetime to mention all the reasons your family, friends and community, appreciated you. I also know from being your extra ear, how much your family, friends and community meant to you. I recall many times you broke an engagement with me for your community. That dedication to your community I admired and I know they appreciated.

To the staff of Smith Funeral Home - I would like to thank Ms. Francis and the wonderful staff for taking care of the business while David and I shared some vacation time together. I know David would agree that, because of all of you, we will always have fond vacation memories to cherish. Again, thanks to all of you.
