Gerald Buckley Obituary
Petal
Rev. Gerald P. Buckley, 80, of Petal passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2017 at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. Services will be Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Petal Harvey Baptist Church at 11 a.m. followed by burial in Sunrise Baptist Church Cemetery.
A graduate of Hattiesburg High and Mississippi College, Rev. Buckley also graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduating from seminary, Rev. Buckley went on to minister at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Gretna, VA, West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc, MS, Parkway Baptist Church in Natchez, MS, and Petal Harvey Baptist Church in Petal.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Buckley of Petal; two sons, Steve (Kristi) Buckley of Petal and Stan (Jewell) Buckley of Madison; and five grandchildren, Adam, Neal, Slade, Anna, and Annaleigh Buckley
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Petal Harvey Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to the Petal Harvey Building Fund or But God Ministries.

Gerald had an enduring influence on me for which I am grateful. As a little girl growing up on a tobacco farm, he encouraged me to go to college. I'll never forget Brother Buckley coming to my parents house when I was 9 years old and guiding me through the process and prayer of accepting Christ and baptizing me. He was a very special man!

Gerald and I started first grade together and graduated together at Hattiesburg High. He was the pastor at my parents and many of my relatives funerals. He was a good friend and will be missed. Louis and Sandra Schweizer

I was a member at Parkway when I was in my mid 20's, which was about 35 years ago and Brother Buckley was the minister. I always enjoyed his sermons! May God give you strength and that your family feels God's love during the days ahead!
