Phyllis Diana Hammer

Phyllis Diana Hammer (née Bishop) passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on July 15, 2025. Her loving and devoted husband, David, and their loyal Airedale, Jackie Blue were at her side. Born on April 8, 1948, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The daughter of John and Alice Bishop who preceded her in death.
Some of Phyllis's most cherished childhood memories were of spending time with her brother Phil at their grandparents' farm.

At an early age in her life, seeking greater opportunities, her family relocated from St. Louis, Missouri, to California and settled in Tujunga.

Phyllis attended Verdugo Hills High School, later graduating from North Hollywood Community Adult School. She later attended vocational training to become a Key Punch Operator. This ultimately led her to Lock-heed Aircraft Company, in Burbank. Her hard work eventually lead to a leadership role, one she never imagined. Phyllis played an essential role in the successful Flight Test, and delivery of the F-117A Stealth Fighter. She was the central point of contact in Burbank for all parts and materials required in the field. Phyllis was recognized for exceptional dedication and effectiveness. Her hard work, full of 7 day work weeks went on for months. This unending dedication earned her numerous awards and accolades. Her contributions to the highly secretive USAF/Lockheed Skunk Works program were known only to those directly involved. Phyllis was well liked and respected by her co-workers. Her unwavering tenacity and strength were hallmarks of her professional and personal life.

Phyllis was a devoted wife who loved deeply and took great care of her husband and their fur babies.

Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband, David Hammer; her daughter, Alicia Reese; her son, John Saggau; grandsons Brandon Reese and Kaleb Saggau; granddaughters Stormy and Kassidy Saggau, two great grandchildren, Asher and Olive, all California; two brothers, John Phillip Bishop of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and Christopher Bishop of California.

Phyllis was proceeded in death by her infant brother Eric.

A celebration of life will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home, Saturday September 20 at 1PM.
