Miss Jimmy's humor, comments and personality at our family gatherings and one on one visits. He is talked about fondly and we all have good memories to share. So sorry he is gone but so glad he does not have to endure anymore suffering. I am sure he is proud of Jane, Brandon and Emily. They continue to move forward with positive attitudes. I'll always remember the twinkle in his eye, Jimmy spent a lot of time at my parents' home, from the time he was under 2 yrs. old until a teenager. He and my dad developed an exceptionally close relationship that continued through my father's lifetime. As he got a little older, he called my father "Daddy-o" as a term of affection.
One memory still takes my breath away even after 35 years: Daddy was in the ICU, slipping away steadily. He'd shown no response to any stimuli for days. Jimmy and I were standing next to his bed when he said something like: "Daddy-o, it's Jim. I love you. If you can, will you let me know you hear me?" Daddy very slowly lifted his index finger just the slightest He never responded to anything again.
Daddy died a few days later, but for a second, Jimmy brought my father back as a living, cognizant man.
