STEPHANIE STRECK-WATSON Obituary

STEPHANIE STRECK-WATSON Stephanie Maria Streck Watson was born June 18, 1951 to Dr. John and Norma Streck in Hays, KS. She was an honor student at Hays High School, graduating in 1969. She then attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked in several hospitals as an OTR, including serving as the head of the Occupational Therapy Department at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Later she established a successful private practice in both Kansas and Arizona, serving thousands of clients over the course of nearly 50 years. She was a Golden Girl in PEO, and was an active member of Chapter IR in the Kansas City area. She succumbed to pancreatic cancer after a brief illness June 15 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park. She is survived by her son Andrew, his wife Kathryn and two grandchildren, Wynne and Vivienne, whom she cared for greatly and who loved their "Grandmere" very much. She was preceded in death by her father, but her mother still lives with her sister Carla and her husband Jim Perez in Dallas, TX. Her other surviving sisters are Susan Moss of New Canan, CT and Lisa Thomason of Houston, TX. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews scattered across the country. The family is planning a Celebration of Life during the upcoming autumn, her favorite time of the year, to coincide with a KU football game, which Stephanie attended religiously. Donations in her memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society in her name, or to any local PEO chapter.

I am so sorry to learn of Stephanie's passing. I was a BQ too, and I taught at FHSU (English). Now I am living in Lawrence in a town home across the street from Don and Royalynn Stewart. RS and I are both in GQ; so is Sharon Wagner (who recently married Dwight Adams). Our family farm is in Douglas County. My sympathy, Nancy.

Dear Andy and family,
Learning from you that your dear mom had lost her life to pancreatic cancer so very suddenly is still inconceivable. I met your mom some years ago when she was a neighbor at Villa Milano. She was an avid walker, so we hit it off well. She spoke so frequently of you and Kathryn and her precious granddaughters. She enjoyed talking of the days she spent watching the girls. I´m grateful you were able to respond to my texts as I couldn´t figure out why she wasn´t responding, especially on her birthday. On her last birthday in 2023, we went to brunch and then shopping. She enjoyed shopping and was always so put together. I am so sorry, Andy. Being the mom of one son myself, I can tell you that I know without a doubt, your mom was so very proud of you and loved you deeply. Let´s look forward to seeing your mom again on resurrection morning. It can´t be long!
With sincerest sympathy & love,
Tammy Hill
