Christy Wich Obituary

Christy Adams Wich

Feb. 7, 1963 - Dec. 18, 2022

FRENCHTOWN - Christy Adams Wich, 59, passed away in her home on December 18, 2022. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by her husband, Jack Wich and daughter, Jacqueline Wich. Christy passed as a result of cancer.

Christy was born on February, 7, 1963, in Great Falls, MT, as an only child to parents Marilyn and Albert Adams. From a young age she was a brilliant horsewomen who proved to be very successful in multiple disciplines. In her younger years, she was wildly successful in western pleasure and qualified for the world championships multiple times upon her Quarter horse, Hard Way Baby. In her later years she found joy in three day eventing alongside her daughter, Jacqueline. Christy competed in multiple USEA recognized events upon her beloved Irish Thoroughbred, Max.

Christy graduated from Montana State University in 1985, with her bachelors degree in communications. Shortly after she moved to Washington DC and worked in the Mayflower Hotel as director of VIP services. There she met Jack Wich, executive pastry chef at the Mayflower Hotel. Christy and Jack would go on to be married on July 7, 1990.

Jack and Christy moved to Missoula and opened the Black Cat Bake Shop. After working out of their daylight basement for 13 years, Jack and Christy opened their retail storefront in the summer of 2010. There, Christy managed the front of the house and ran the popular holiday mail order for the business.

Christy is survived by husband, Jack Wich; daughter, Jacqueline Wich; dogs: Hailey, Bailey and Marley; horses: Zack, MT and Miller; and cat, Angel.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to One Horse at a Time Draught Horse Rescue located in Corvallis, MT; or Second Stride INC at Moserwood located in Prospect, KY.

Up until her passing, Christy loved all animals and animals knew they could find a friend in Christy. In her later years, she found her heart residing in Lexington, KY, where her daughter, Jacqueline is attending university along with her Irish Sport Horse, Miller.

A private celebration of life will take place at the family farm.

Christy was a Class Act and a True Warrior all the way to the end. I grew to respect her as a leader as I got to know her better. She was a solid lady with an incomparable character.

Every time I see horses, I always remember you now. It was an honor to have known and worked with you, Christy.

May you Rest In Peace.

I will remember out college years together as well as stopping by the Mayflower Hotel when I was in DC. I stopped by the Black Cat Bakery when you weren't too busy when I was in Missoula once, but often it was difficult to find a time when you were not busy.

We are so sorry to hear of Christy's passing. She was always the bright light in the shop, knew what our favorite treat was and served it with a smile. I hand wrote the stollen gift tags one year and thought the world of her. We send our condolences and know what a void she will leave.

I was so very sad to hear about Christy. I remember many years ago before they had the store, meeting in their house. Such a very nice lady. Sending prayers to your family.
