Linda Schofield Obituary

Linda Schofield

May 20, 1947 - September 29, 2025

Linda was born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 20, 1947, to Harold and Adele (Dowiat) Schnierle. She lived in Chicago with her parents and younger brother, Bud. Linda graduated from Downer's Grove High School. In 1971, she met the love of her life and future husband, Ron Schofield, and they married in 1972. Their daughter, Wendy, was born in 1974, and shortly thereafter, Linda and Ron packed up their station wagon with hopes, dreams, a baby girl, a giant Newfoundland dog, and moved across the country to Montana to begin their adventure. They first lived in Hamilton, Montana, and then moved on to Helena a few years later. Linda and Ron enjoyed their time in the Bitterroot, but the Helena valley became their home. They welcomed son Craig in 1978. Linda and Ron raised their family in the Helena area, and lived there until her death. Linda worked for many years in Helena as an administrative assistant for Hydrometrics Engineering, and then for the State of Montana, until retiring in 2014. Linda enjoyed horses and her dogs and cats. Linda was active as a Girl Scout and 4-H leader. She was always an enthusiastic volunteer for her children's activities, and was especially involved in 4-H. She was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren, and loved her husband Ron tremendously. Those who knew her recall many comments about her hunky husband, and she bragged endlessly on her children, grandchildren, and son-in-law Rick, who she adored. Linda fought multiple health issues in later life, but even as her mobility and energy declined, she still loved watching football, cuddling with her cat, bossing Ron, and telling stories. Linda passed away on September 29, 2025, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents. Linda is survived by her husband, Ron; daughter, Wendy (Rick Beasley); son, Craig; and grandchildren, Harper and Carlin Beasley, and Ivy and Oscar Schofield.

A celebration of Life and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Nephrology and Dialysis Center, or the Lewis and Clark County 4-H council.
