ALLEN ROBERT DIEHL, "Bob," beloved husband of Betty H. Diehl (Schneuer), deceased, devoted father of Kimberly D. Zekany (Andy) of Dallas, Texas, Jeffrey A. Diehl (Kerry) of Perrysburg, Ohio, Gregory R. Diehl (Gina) of Mason, Ohio, and six grandchildren, Lauren Diehl, Andrew Zekany, Robert Diehl, Thomas Diehl, Katie Diehl and Emily Zekany. Allen was born February 8, 1924, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Irvin R. and Maybelle C. Frost Diehl. Brother of Donald E. Diehl, deceased. Mr. Diehl passed away July 12, 2017, at the age of 93. Graduate of Huntington East High School, Huntington W.Va., and graduate of Marshall University, Huntington, W.Va. He served in WWII in the US Navy and participated in the Allied Invasion of Normandy, D-Day on June 6, 1944, as a Radioman on PC 1232. After college, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War and the Air Force Reserves until his retirement with the rank of Major. Employed as a Nuclear Materials Administrator with the Department of Energy/Fernald, he was a member of the College Hill F&A.M. Lodge #641, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, Syrian Shrine, Legion of Honor and Marshall University Alumni Association. He was a volunteer at the Shriners Hospital and U.S. Air Force Museum (Wright Patterson) and a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will take place Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 1 p.m. until time of service at Spring Grove Cemetery Norman Chapel (4521 Spring Grove Ave., 45232). Entombment will immediately follow the service at the Memorial Mausoleum at Spring Grove Cemetery. Memorials suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229 or Northminster Presbyterian Church, 703 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
