CALEB RAY Obituary

CALEB RYAN RAY, 8 years old, of Ranger, West Virginia, passed away suddenly on April 26, 2018, while playing soccer with his friends. He was born September 23, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. He was a 2nd grade student at Ranger Elementary. He possessed a kind, compassionate and loving soul and wanted to help everyone in need. He was intelligent, inquisitive, fun-loving, and loved to listen and sing to music. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. Caleb was the son of Ryan and Kristy Smith Ray of Ranger, W.Va., and was a big brother to Maggie Dale. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dale Smith. He is survived by grandparents, David (Teresa) Ray of Huntington and Teresa (John) Whitlock of Lake Orion, Mich. He is also survived by his Aunt Jerri Hill of Taylor, Mich., Uncles Jeremy Ray and Bradley Ray of Huntington, and Uncle Mike (Kandi) Hill of Ranger, W.Va.; great-grandparents, Raymond and Margie Browning of Huntington and Patsy Ray McComas and the late Norman Ray of Barboursville. He is also survived by a host of cousins and great-aunts and -uncles. Caleb truly loved his friends and family members. He could always be found smiling and striking up a conversation at the local grocery store on his bicycle or in his 2nd grade classroom. He wanted to be a doctor or an archaeologist when he grew up. Caleb's unexpected passing has left his family and community grieving. He was our angel that gained his wings early, and he will forever be missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family. They will be used to fund future awareness and intervention of Caleb's medical condition. Service will be 4 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2018, at McGhee Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, W.Va., with Ken Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery, Ranger, W.Va. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. You may express your condolences to the family at www.handleyfh.com.

Dear sweet Caleb,
I know you are rejoicing in heaven with Jesus and all of your favorite relatives and even with little animals. Know that we, here on earth, love and miss you, but we know that you are in a special place now with the angels.
Missing you very much,

To Caleb's family; I really feel your pain. A devastating loss of such an angelic looking little boy. I am so very sorry. I can relate to how you feel. My brother died suddenly playing soccer 2 months ago. He was healthy, an angel with an amazing love for life.
Time is the healer. Grieve for Caleb. Talk about him. tell your favorite stories about him. Only time will heal the devastatating shock.
Till today my family keep asking why but the grieving has transitionined to celebrating his life. We miss him dearly.
You, your husband, daughter, family and those friends that mean the world to you and meant the world to Caleb will get through this; one day at a time.
Take good care of yourselves and hugs to your family.
So very sorry for your loss.
May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
Thinking of you here in seattle.

My darling great-nephew, Caleb, how we will miss you! Aunt Sharon, you, and me were a team - always working at some task (usually outside) and having fun. Your natural kindness and intelligence enriched our lives and made us happy; we know you were happy, too. We've lost you in this life, but will join you in the next. We hold your memory dear and love you very much. Kristy, Ryan, and Maggie - we want to comfort you and ease your pain; hopefully, we can do that in some way - love you, my dears.
