Norma Ray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNett Funeral Home - Andrews on Jan. 27, 2026.
Norma Jean Ray, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, in Andrews, Texas. Born on February 14, 1941, in Odessa, Texas. She was a woman of great spirit and kindness, whose legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.

Norma was a graduate of Imperial High School, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with diverse interests and accomplishments. Throughout her career, Norma embraced roles from a florist to a bookkeeper, but she found her truest fulfillment in the role of a mother. She poured her heart into motherhood and cherished every moment with her beloved daughter Stephanie LeAnn Rumbaugh.

She was a Christian who lived her faith through her actions, offering love and support to those around her. Norma's interests were as charming as they were simple – she found joy in playing puzzles and games on her phone and had a fondness for classic television shows, with "I Love Lucy" and "The Golden Girls" being among her favorites.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Stephanie; her grandchildren, Brittany Ellison and her husband Tanner, Terry Ellison and his wife Sabrina, and Lindsey Wilson and her husband Josh; her great-grandchildren, Molly, Bryce, and Jacob; as well as numerous cousins and other family members who felt the warmth of her love throughout her life.

Norma is now reunited in eternal peace with her parents, John C. Daugherty, Jr. and Melba Ezell Smith Daugherty; her grandmother, Bertha Smith; her uncle, Odell Smith and great-granddaughter Sophie Ellison. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, yet they find comfort in the memories of her loving presence.

The family of Mrs. Norma Ray wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Permian Regional Care Center and Permian Regional Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they extended to her in her final days.

A memorial service to celebrate Norma's life will be held at McNett Funeral Home. The date and time will be announced, allowing friends and family to come together and honor the memory of this extraordinary woman.
