Hollena Adkins Obituary
HOLLENA BAKER ADKINS, 98, of Ceredo, WV, formerly of Kenova, WV passed quietly at her home on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
She was born May 4, 1927 in Wayne County to Leslie and Thyrsa Shuff Baker. She earned her BA Degree from Marshall University and taught in the Wayne County Schools for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling with family, gardening and reading, but most important to her was her relationship with her Savior. Hollena was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Kenova for 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jake Adkins; a son, Jimmy David Adkins; and two brothers, Garnet and Hollis Baker.
Survivors include her daughters, Joan Bailey (Bill) of Ceredo, WV, Dena Smith (Al) of Pleasant Garden, NC; grandchildren, Bill Bailey, Geri Beth Bailey, Albert Smith, Ryan Smith; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Palmaneda Smith of St. Petersburg, FL; brothers, Cebern Baker of Branchland, WV and Challis Baker of East Lynn, WV; and many beloved extended family members.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington in memory of Hollena.
