Jay Gilkerson Obituary


JAY "JERRY" GILKERSON JR., 84, of Beech Fork, WV, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at his residence in Barboursville, WV. Funeral services will be conducted Noon, Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Brother Garland Perry. Burial will follow at Ramsey Cemetery, East Lynn, WV.
He was born July 15, 1940 in East Lynn, WV, a son of the late Jay and Virgie Adkins Gilkerson. Jerry was a retired machinist for Huntington Alloys and a member of the Steel Workers Local #40. He was also a member of the Bethlehem United Baptist Church as well as the Farm Bureau.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jennings and Nora Adkins; a sister, Lenore Jackson; a brother Doug Gilkerson; and a nephew, James Gilkerson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Evangeline McCoy Gilkerson; two daughters, Sharon Gilkerson and Kimberly Gilkerson, both of Huntington; Jonah Gilkerson (Lisa) of Lavalette, WV; three step-daughters, Leanett Grimm (Chris), Mandy Robertson (Mary), Millie Robertson; six grandchildren, Jeremy Gilkerson (Jessica), Kayla Adkins (Jordan), Kristen Tucker (Lucas), Corey Gilkerson (Jasmine), Mason Hodge (Jordyn) and Tanner Hodge; five great grandchildren, Christopher Adkins, Zoe Adkins, Karson Gilkerson, Miles and Rylee Gilkerson; and four step-grandchildren, Jacob Gundler, Amber Chapman, Brooklyn Wiley, and Payton Clay.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for their exceptional care.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV.
