Joe Day Obituary

JOE DAY passed away on October 7, 2025 at his home in Huntington.
The son of the late Ray and Fern Day, Joe was a 1977 graduate of Huntington East High School.
He started his career and took great pride in 30 years as a lineman and foreman for AEP. He then went to work for the city of Huntington before retiring in January 2025 after 10 years as safety director for Davis H. Elliot.
Joe was a loyal, caring, gentle giant who didn't know his own strength. He was loved by children and animals, the two groups he got along with the best. He was funny, warm, tolerant, charming, and humble.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jennifer; his sister, Carrie Rider; his ex-wife and friend Dani; their daughters Stacey Day, Cristen Adkins, Destiny Delapa, and bonus daughter Sara Chapman; his grandchildren Chase Day, Ethan Pyles, Chloe Pyles, Emily (Devin) Adkins, Carson Adkins, Brody Adkins, and Madeline Delapa; his adored mother-in-law, Joan Cartmill; his sister-in-law Susan Beckett and her husband Mark Ray, his favorite nephew, Grant Beckett; and his cats, Harry & Sally, and his dog Clive, who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Klingel Carpenter Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Little Victories, the Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter, or One By One Animal Advocates.
