Kay Mobayed Obituary

KAY JOLYNN LEECH MOBAYED went to be with her Lord and God on December 31, 2025, at Woodlands Senior Living. Her family will gather with loved ones for a celebration of her life on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Highlawn Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Sharon Bell officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall, where family and friends are invited to share memories, comfort, and stories that honor the remarkable life Kay lived.
Born on June 28, 1937, in DuBois, PA, Kay was the cherished daughter of the late Bruce and Blanche Leech. She built a life marked by faith, compassion, curiosity, and unwavering dedication to helping children reach their fullest potential. Kay graduated from Charleston High School, Marshall University, and the University of Kentucky. At Marshall, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Special Education and was a proud member of FAGUS, the Senior Women's Honorary Society. She went on to complete her Master's degree in Childhood Education at the University of Kentucky, deepening her passion for supporting young learners. Throughout her career, Kay devoted herself to children from infants to age three who had developmental delays, offering patience, expertise, and boundless care. Later, in both Florida and Kentucky, she continued her life's work by supporting children with special educational needs as they transitioned into school systems. Her impact on families and communities echoes far beyond the classroom, remembered through the countless lives she touched with love.
Kay is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Julia Ann; her son, Andrew, and her four beloved grandchildren, Robert, Mary, Ryan, and Peyton each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. The family offers heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Woodlands Senior Living for their many acts of compassionate care during her time there.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highlawn Presbyterian Church, a place that brought Kay spiritual nourishment and community.
Messages of sympathy and cherished memories may be shared with the family through www.beardmortuary.com.
Kay's legacy lives on in the children she championed, the family she adored, and the kindness she extended so generously. She will be remembered with gratitude, love, and celebration.
