Michael Ryder Shortridge

2015 - 2024

RYDER MICHAEL SHORTRIDGE, born on June 20, 2015, became our guardian angel on September 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Marti and Larry Shortridge.
He is survived by his grandparents Greg and Jo Ann Gosnay; parents Josh and Joni Shortridge; twin sister Remi Shortridge, older siblings twin brothers, Jaxon and Kadon Shortridge; aunts and uncles Christi and Dick Sketal (Zach and Cody), Tara and Scott Fullen (Bella), Brad and Sharley Shortridge (Grady and Taylor), a special great-aunt, Debbie Gosnay, a special great-uncle and aunt, Gary and Linda Messinger; and too many friends to count.
Ryder was born with a smile on his face. He was truly the life of the party, often known for his quick wit and "one liners." He had a heart of gold.
Ryder loved adventure and could be found fishing in the creek or running around outside. He sang loudly to the radio, and life. Ryder loved sports and was a talented baseball player. He loved being on the field with his friends. He also played basketball and became part of the brotherhood of the GVMS football team as a manager. Even after he left this Earth, he continued to be a HERO.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2024, at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV. There will be a Private Family Graveside service with Elder Jonah Adkins officiating.
