Peggy Carson Obituary
PEGGY SUE CARSON has gained her angel wings and entered Heaven to once again be with her husband. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's form of dementia in the fall of 2020 and lost the battle on September 13, 2024. She was born April 25, 1943, in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of Basil and Aretta "Ett" Maynard Adkins who preceded her in death. Also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Randolph "Randy" S. Carson in September of 2023. She is survived by a son, Ronnie David Carson of Richmond, VA; three daughters, Donnetta (Thomas) Payne of Sandston, VA, Karen (David) Liles of Quinton, VA and Kathy (Tony) Pyzowski of Richmond, VA; eleven grandchildren, Darrin (Paige) Carson of Arizona, Tamera Witham, Brian Adkins, Jennifer (John) Smith, Brent (Tiffany) Adkins, Tommy (Ella) Payne, Cory (Kim) Liles, Jason Liles, Colby Liles, Stephen Pyzowski, and Stacy (Tom) Mazzo, along with eighteen great-grandchildren, all of Virginia. She was preceded in death by many nieces, nephews and lifelong family and friends. Peggy was a member of Salem United Baptist Church and attended Echo United Baptist Church prior to moving to Richmond, VA in 1986. Peggy was a childcare provider to not only her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but for many families and friends for twenty-two years before retiring. She was lovingly known as "Mamaw" to every child in her care. She enjoyed going to NASCAR races up until the death of her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. She also loved her visits to the Outer Banks of NC each summer until the pandemic of 2020 and the progression of her Alzheimer's disease. Peggy bowled for several years with her husband until health issues prevented her from continuing this hobby. During her last year after the death of her beloved husband, she soon became bedridden and nonverbal, but displayed great pleasure in visits from her family and took comfort in listening to the Precious Memories CD by Alan Jackson, so much so that it was necessary to purchase another copy of this CD. She passed away at home surrounded by her family and caregivers, as was the wish of Randy before his passing. She was well taken care of by her personal CNA, Deborah Baker who was especially kind and treated Peggy as if she were her own mother, as well as the loving care from Legacy Hospice of Virginia. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Bowen Cemetery, Wayne, WV, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Randy.
