David Lowell Osborne
DECATUR - David Lowell Osborne of Decatur, IL, passed away on May 12, 2024, at the age of 79.
He is survived by his wife Jacalyn; daughter, Angela; son-in-law, Wesley; brother, James; sister-in-law, Janice; and granddaughter Hermione. He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Frances Osborne.
His visitation/funeral will be held at Decatur First United Methodist Church at 201 W. North Street, Decatur, IL, on Friday, May 17, 2024. The visitation starts at 10:00 AM followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM. All friends and family are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Millikin University in Dave's name.

Throughout his life, Dave worked for Staley, Wabash Railroad, Caterpillar, Decatur Park District, and ADM. He earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from Millikin University. He served in the Navy, where he flew the F-4 Phantom, A-6 Intruder, TA-4 Skyhawk, F-9 Cougar, and T-33 aircraft. Dave later served as a Naval Weapons Cener consultant and briefed members of Congress and government personnel. He retired from the Navy and Naval Reserves as a Captain after 31 years of service and extensive travel.
At Caterpillar, he worked as a Manufacturing and System Engineer and then Marketing Representative for large construction and mining trucks. He also served as an auxiliary police officer for the Decatur Police Department, an auxiliary Sheriff's Deputy for Macon County, and a Decatur Park Ranger.
He married Jacalyn in Decatur, and they had one daughter, Angela. During the pandemic, he became a Grandad to Hermione. Dave was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Scottish Rite, and Eastern Star, and supporter of Job's Daughters. He served as Noble Grand for the International Order of the Odd Fellows. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, flying, traveling, and spending time with his family.
