VANDALIA - Eunice O. Tompkins, 95, of Vandalia died 1:45 a.m. Tuesday (May 12, 2009) in Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Taylor Cemetery, Vandalia, with Ward Sussenbach officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia. Memorials: Taylor Cemetery. Eunice was born March 26, 1914, in Fayette County, the daughter of August J. and Dorcie M. Herring Murray. She is a retired seamstress from Princess Peggy Dress Factory, Vandalia. She married Dugan Melvin Tompkins on Nov. 19, 1934, in Vandalia. He preceded her in death Dec. 5, 1979. Surviving are her daughters, Selma Ann Goodin of Vandalia; Shelby June Schmid of Decatur; sisters, Ruth Halbrook of Hillsboro; Carolyn Bova and Lexie Hines, both of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Kristi E. Hickey and husband Kerwin G. of Kirkwood, Mo.; Joni Sue Brinkman and husband Paul Sr. of Palm Springs, Fla.; Julie Anne Hall and husband Michael R. of Warrensburg; Randall W. Schmid and wife Aurelie of Winchester, Va.; granddaughter-in-law, Mary Beth Goodin of Hot Springs, Ark.; double niece, Betsy Spearman and husband Joseph D. of Bonita Springs, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Nathan A., Justin M. and Thomas I. Hickey, all of Kirkwood, Mo.; Jonathan T., Christopher P. and William A. Goodin, all of Hot Springs, Ark.; Evan M. Hall of Warrensburg; Jessica S. and Paul Brinkman Jr., both of Palm Springs; Dugan E., William H. and Anthony J. Schmid, all of Winchester, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mildred R.
