DECATUR - Floyd H. Shoemaker, 72, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Faith Baptist Church, 875 W Grove Rd, Decatur, IL, 62521. Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, June 14, 2024, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery with Full Military Honors by the Illinois Army National Guard.
Floyd was born August 26, 1951, in Shelbyville, the son of William Jessa and Virginia Eleanor (Weakly) Shoemaker. He married Donna Bragg in 1972 in Findlay. Floyd proudly served our country in the United States Army National Guard for his entire career, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He enjoyed camping, fishing and running. Floyd spent many family vacations traveling to Anna Maria Island in Florida. But, he most enjoyed time spent with his grandkids. Floyd was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Donna; son, Ryan (Katie) Shoemaker of Atwood; daughter, Krista (Nick) Schwarze of Mahomet; grandchildren: Noah, Cooper, Kameron, and Vivian; siblings: Robert Shoemaker of Decatur; Norman Shoemaker of Shelbyville; and Eleanor (Chester) Stewardson of Shelbyville.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne Shoemaker.
