Jerry Newingham Obituary

DECATUR - Jerry Lee Newingham 61 of Decatur, died 4:59 p.m. Saturday (September 5, 2009) in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Visitation for Jerry will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (September 10, 2009) at Hidden Valley Community Church located at 1635 Huston Drive Decatur, IL. Jerry requested that his body be cremated and his burial is private. Memorials may be made to the family of Jerry and Jason Newingham. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements. Jerry was born June 21, 1948 in Decatur, IL., son of Harry Rudolph and Dorothy Peirce Newingham. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He worked for Ronnie's Auto Repair Shop. Jerry married Helen Louise Dotson May 1, 1976. Surviving are his sons, Jerry Newingham Jr., and wife Misty, Jason Newingham and wife Sammantha, daughter, Kelly Dews and fiancée Paul Dorr, brother, Danny Newingham, sister, Sandy Mayberry and husband P.J., seven grandkids, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Helen, Jerry, and Jason, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers and thoughts go out to you. Jerry was a good man and a great teacher to my kids all those years ago when you baby sat.
