Richard "Dick" Marion Stubblefield

November 15, 1939 - March 20, 2025

ALPHARETTA, GA - Richard "Dick" Marion Stubblefield, 85, of Alpharetta, GA, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Richard was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather (Papa). He enjoyed his family, friends, church community, golfing, fishing, woodworking, jazz music, and learning how things worked. He will be greatly missed!

Richard was born on November 15, 1939, in Decatur, IL, the son of Harley Marion and Pearl Leona (Clausen) Stubblefield. He married Mary Lee Pfile on August 31, 1963, in Decatur. Richard was a graduate of Decatur High School (Class of 1957) and Eureka College (Class of 1961). He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at Eureka and had several fond encounters with Ronald Reagan as a fellow (older) fraternity brother. Richard served in the United States Army Reserves from 1962 to 1968.

Richard spent his career as a Plant Engineer at Caterpillar in Decatur, IL. He provided service to the Boy Scouts of America in many capacities in Decatur, IL. and in the regional community. Richard was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Alpharetta, GA and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Decatur, IL.

Surviving are his children, Michael Stubblefield (Courtney) of Sugar Hill, GA, Catherine Banks (Ken) of Federal Way, WA, Matthew Stubblefield (Donatala) of Atlanta, GA, Mark Stubblefield (Laura) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Alex (Rachel) Galiher, Halle Banks, Hanna Banks, Aiden Stubblefield, Lilly Stubblefield, Ella Stubblefield, and Logan Stubblefield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Robert Douglas; and daughter, Marian Lynne.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Decatur, IL. Funeral Mass will be immediately following at 11 a.m. with Father Braden Maher as celebrant. The burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. A luncheon and gathering will be held at Golden Fox Brewing in Decatur from 1 to 4 p.m. Those who cannot attend in person are welcome to attend the mass virtually at https://stubbfam.com/funeral.
