Andrew Gross Obituary
February 11, 1971 - November 11, 2022
Miami, Florida - Andrew "Andy" "Drew" Gross, passed away on November 11, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born a Red Sox fan in Miami, Florida on February 11, 1971, Andy spent his 51 years passionately devoted to playing, coaching, and watching sports, listening to live music, and investing in friendships as deep as his city roots. From Killian High School to the University of Florida, his athleticism spanned from baseball to quarterbacking the 1991 "Nose Bowl" TEP fraternity team to victory.
He was "Uncle Drew" to many lifelong friend's kids and found great joy outfitting them with University of Miami gear, coaching their sports teams, and being part of important life events. His legacy lives on in those of us who have absorbed his kindness, humor, and pride in five UM National Championships and three Red Sox World Series.
Andrew is survived by his father Bob Gross, his sister Rochelle and brother-in-law Steve Lanster, his brothers Alan and Gerald, his seven adoring nieces and nephews, godchildren, and dozens of lifelong friends who cherished him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marlene Drukman Gross.
A Graveside Funeral Service for Andy will be Sunday, November 13, 2:00 p.m. at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25 Street. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30pm at Temple Beth Am 5950 SW 88 Street. The family will be sitting Shiva immediately following at Temple Beth Am.
The Gross family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in honor of Andy's memory to the University of Miami Hurricane Club to support the next generation of Canes.
