Barry Weider Obituary

WEIDER, BARRY STEPHEN of Coral Gables, 68, FL passed away Sunday night, January 1st after fighting a courageous battle against Leukemia for 2 years and never giving up. He was born and raised on Miami Beach and went to Miami Beach High, then Florida State University and the University of Miami. He owned and operated a successful Wholesale Travel Business in both the US and Canada. This gave him ample opportunity to travel the world with his family. He spent many days outside playing golf, and Sundays were always saved for football. He loved going to the movies with his family and taking Cruze, his grandson, for rides on his golf cart. To know him was a privilege. He was a loving husband, friend, son, father and grandfather. His humor made everyone laugh and he was truly a special human being. Barry is survived by his wife of 40 years Janice, their daughter Jade, her husband Josh, his grandson Cruze, his brother Norman and wife Lourdes, their children, Luli and Alex, Michael and Daniel and their grandchildren Elle, Emma and Alex, his sister Sandy, her partner Debbie and their daughter Tristan, and his cats Sabrina and Mango. A service will be held on January 5th at Deering Bay Golf and Country Club, 13610 Deering Bay Drive, Coral Gables, FL 33158 in the Clubhouse at 3:30pm where Barry spent most of his days and was his happiest.

I have a hole in my life because of Barry´s passing. In particular I miss our golf games and our skiing adventures in Aspen. He was such a fun guy. We had many fun experiences and laughs together. Harold Hillman

I will miss you Barry. You were larger than life. I smile thinking about your sarcastic quips and raised eyebrow. You were an original- kind to animals, wicked sense of humor and generous to a fault. Thank you for always opening your home to me and my family for all those special days in Miami. I know you will be incredibly missed by all, especially your beautiful family.
Love,
Joanna, Aram and Wyatt

My deepest sympathies. May the God of all comfort strengthen the entire family during this time of sorrow. Keep in mind that God keeps in his memory those whom we lose because they are precious in his eyes. (Psalms 116:15)

I have wonderful memories of Barry when I was younger and spent many holidays and visits with the Weider family. Although I hadn't seen him lately, I heard about his illness and wished that he could be cured. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time.
