Ben Jacobstein

Ben Jacobstein, 92, a brilliant problem-solver and man of integrity, wit, and kindness, died December 8th in Coral Gables. Born in Louisville, KY to Alexander and Annie Jacobstein, he attended the U. of Louisville before joining the Army Air Corps in WWII. Ben was President of Florida Juice Co., the first producer of fresh orange juice in cartons. He later designed and manufactured contact lenses as President of Paris Contact Lens Laboratory. He co-founded the Contact Lens Clinic at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where he trained residents and fitted lenses for over 20 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dr. Helen Jacobstein; his children, Dr. Diane Jacobstein (Rabbi David Shneyer), Dr. Amy Jacobstein, and Neil Jacobstein (Dr. Rona Silkiss); four grandsons, Aaron Shneyer (Luz Maria Uribe Holmgren), Daniel Shneyer, Gabriel Oxios (Heloiza Correa), David Oxios, and a great-grandson, Nahuel Shneyer. Funeral will be held at 2:30pm on Wed. Dec 10th at the Chapel of Riverside Gordon at 5900 S.W. 77th Ave, Miami.
