Cutler Bay, Florida - Christensen, Bernice Rita (nee Gibney), 104, of Cutler Bay, FL died peacefully in the company of her family on August 3rd. She was born July 8, 1921 in Lodi, New Jersey, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Gibney. After graduating from Lodi High School she worked as a telephone switchboard operator. She married her loving husband Charles 'Chris' Christensen of Bogota, New Jersey in November 1942, joining him in Texas where he was serving in the Army Air Corps. After the war, they raised four sons in New Jersey, and moved to Coral Gables, Florida in 1968 where she was noted by many for her warmth in her customer facing role at a bank. Predeceased by her beloved husband she lived actively in East Ridge Village at Cutler Bay for twenty one years. A woman of strong faith, sharp mind and a quick sense of humor, she thrived in her role as a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, radiating love to all her family and many friends. She is survived by her four sons and their spouses, Charles and Carole of Westbrook, ME, Steven and Barbara of Palmetto Bay, FL, Jeff and Lynda of Rhinebeck, NY and David of Hialeah, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Private services by her family followed by interment at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, Miami, FL.
