Charles Sofge

1956 - 2025

Charles (Chuck) Edwards, Sofge, 69, passed peacefully at his home in Miami Beach, FL on August 18, 2025. Born in Nashville, TN, he grew up in Miami, attending Killian High School and Miami Dade Junior College.

Captain Chuck began working for Island Queen Tours when there was only one boat. He eventually purchased the company with a vision of a larger fleet offering more than just tours. Today's fleet, based out of Bayside on Biscayne Bay, includes two extravagant yachts for special events.

Having compassion for others, Chuck often offered his boats to organizations working with children, some with special needs. For most, this was their first ride on a boat and being out at sea. The homeless in the community often benefited from his caring generosity.

Chuck loved fishing and being on the water. He and his wife, Soribe, had just returned from Bimini having enjoyed three weeks of boating and fishing.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Haley E. Sofge and mother, Jacqueline Barnes Sofge. He is survived by his wife, Soribe, Urdaneta Sofge and her daughter, Andrea. He is also survived by his former wife, Flora ( Bowie) Schumer and their three children, Tara Katie (Brian) Kidwell, Jacqueline (Scott) Hardin, Charles (Sara) Sofge and numerous beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Judith Anne(Scott) Bingham and brother, Haley (Kristen) Sofge, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Dunklin Memorial Church City of Refuge, 3342 SW Hosannah Ln, Okeechobee, FL 34974, the Humane Society of Broward County, Wounded Warrior Project or International Fellowship of Christians and Jews would be greatly appreciated.
