If Tears Could Build A Stairway

If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane.
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you and Kim back again.

No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say "Goodbye".
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.

My heart still aches with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to love you -
No one can ever know.

But now I know you want me
to mourn for you no more;
To remember all the happy times
life still has much in store.

Since you'll never be forgotten,
I pledge to you today~
A hollowed place within my heart
is where you'll always stay.

God knows why, with chilling touch,
Death gathers those we love so much,
And what now seems so strange and dim,
Will all be clear, when we meet Him.
I Knew you for a Moment

I will always carry you with me where ever I go. You taught me to see life through a new perspective. God bless you and hope to see you at some point again.

So many people love you. You must have lived your earthly life in a most extraordinary way, and are now keeping close watch over your family and friends. If you happen to see Auntie Dorie, please tell her that Mackenzie swims like the proverbial fish. I tend to believe that Kenzie is floating with her g-grandmother's hand at her back. I know you are doing these sorts of things too. Grace and Peace.

You lived everyday to the max and are a Legend to everyone. I know your in a better place and I will see ya when I get there. As for now, I know your watching over me and everyone that loves you. I will always remember, "love is the universal connection that brings everything together," and I will always love you. Peace and Love!

To my dearest & favorite sister Terri, and Ron & Jesse,
Let's remember that famous saying, "I do what I want." This is the way to live one's life. And that's exactly what our Colin did - fo sho. He will leave a profound void in our lives absolutely, but his spirit is still alive & kicking wherever he is right now in that next dimension. Christmas will never be the same again for me. But what happy memories I will always have. I love you.....Janice

Dearest Friends,
Don and I are heartbroken for your loss of Colin. He was "cool" like his parents and brother! Reading the words of family and friends are testaments of who Colin was on his short, but meaningful journey. All one can ask for as a parent is a loving, enthusiastic, child who knows life is worth living to the fullest. You guys gave us a blessing in Colin. You will be in our prayers especially at this Holy time...with love,

April 1, 2010

Ron, Terri and Jesse-
What moves through you is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, you may not understand why Colin left this earth so soon, or why he left before you were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, you begin to remember not just that he died, but that he lived. And that his life gave you memories too beautiful to forget.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Colin, I've known you since you were a little kid running around at Kendall with Mindy and Zack.. but I think my favorite memory of you was not that long ago at our Thursday night league. You came in all covered in dirt after having a mishap on your bike.. I told you maybe you should sit out this game and you said no. You went on to almost shoot 300 that game! After that I was like, are you surrre you dont want to sit out ;) All you could do was smile.. and of course, your dad was smiling too with pride.

You were taken way too soon, but we know Heaven just got a little sweeter and a lot more fun.

God Bless you and your family.

Colin,

I can't help but shed a tear every time I read of the stories and memories, and even think of the memories I had with you, Mike, and everyone else from Miami. We lost a few years too many, and I wish that I just had one more chance to say hey to you. You were always outgoing, fun to be around, and no matter what you said, or what you did, you made every person around you smile. When I found out what had happened, I broke down right where I stood. I couldn't believe it. I didn't want to believe it. Colin, you will always be in my thoughts and prayers, and I will miss you so much.

We find ourselves in a situation that we have never been in before as we think of you with sadness in our hearts. That is because 'Colin' and sadness does not go together. Not knowing what you will do or say next, you always keep us on our toes because we never knew what was coming. You are a free spirit that took life by the horns, you have filled our lives with laughter as only you can. Over the years our families became one as we traveled to Dallas and Indy to watch you, Jessie and Michael at Junior Gold. Our 'family' week-end get-aways to different tournaments are treasured memories never to be forgotten. There are so many things we would all like to say and so many memories we would like to share and we always think we have tomorrow to do that. You bring out the 'fun' in everyone you meet. One of my favorite memories is the night we went to Olive Garden in Dallas. You didn't want anything on the menu so you ordered a hot dog (both of our favorite food), thinking you were being funny. The waiter took your order and went on to take the rest of our orders. You really thought you were going to get that hot dog!! I think that is one of the few times that someone actually 'got you' instead of the other way around. You met your match that night. I can still see you, Jessie, and Michael, with the waiter, wearing the napkins on your head or over your faces. Once again Colin, you made us laugh. We have watched you grow from a child into a young man and we are so proud to have you not only as a good friend of Michael's but also as a part of our family. We love you dearly and will always have you, as well as your Mom, Dad, and Jessie in our hearts. We miss you already but know we will meet again and I know you will meet us at the gates with your beautiful smile.
Thursday's will never be the same.
Love, Ken, Tere, Michael, Kenny, Stephanie and Kellie.

You were at my sweet 16 and without you it wouldn't have been as fun because you always kept us laughing. When you were around the world was bright and now the world has lost such a wonderful man. I'm grateful to have had you bless my life with your prescence and it's still hard to believe that such a great guy is gone. I will always remember his beautiful smile, his loving kind spirit.
Out in this brave new world you seek
Oh the valleys and the peaks
And I can see you on the top.

I am so sorry for your loss! No parents should have to suffer the loss of a child, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. May God give you the strength to carry on and may He open his arms to receive Colin into His care and keeping.

Dear Thrash family - we are overwhelmed with your loss. Collin was our sons Nadav and Priel's best friend for years. He had celebrated Passover with us just last year - we were ready to invite him again this year when the horrible news reached us.
We pray for your strength - and offer our deepest condolences. The Schmalbach family
