Miami, Florida - Dale Mark Botwin, 77, of Miami, FL died peacefully on March 27, 2025. The son of Esther (née Miller) and Norman Botwin, Dale was born July 11, 1947 in Philadelphia and raised in Southwest Miami. Dale was married to Virginia Hudson Reynolds Botwin for more than 30 years. He was the father of Matthew William Botwin, born in 1970, and stepfather to Dave, Gail and Chrissy Reynolds. Dale was the proud grandfather of August Botwin, father-in-law of Kim Davis and step-grandfather of Levi Hurst and Mila Hurst as well as Samatha and Tyler Tudor.

After graduating from high school at Southwest Miami High in 1968, he went on to receive a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School at Penn.

Dale led a successful career as health care economist for the Federal Health Education and Welfare Service where he was proud to hold the US Navy rank of Lieutenant Commander. From here, Dale moved to Port Aransas, Texas to reconnect with his life-long best friend Paul Matthews, where he began a new career in the restaurant industry and became a computer programmer. After Texas, Dale moved home to Miami where he met his high school classmate and soon to be wife, Virginia Hudson Reynolds with whom he started a new business called the Reimbursement Prescription. In addition to their business, Dale and Jinny enjoyed sailing and lived on their 41' Morgan named Ariel for many years. Dale and Jinny were also loving parents of dogs Angus, Max, Enzo and Charlie and cockatiels Sinbad and Anjin.

Dale was a voracious reader, a true intellectual and an intuitive engineer. He was a lifelong member of the Ham radio community – KR4OR – who built his own antennas. One of these, the "Hydromast" was a creation that raised its antenna by force of water. Dale struggled with depression and addiction throughout his life. These things had a terrible effect on his mind and body but he usually found a sense of humor in the depths of despair. Even in his drinking, Dale loved to connect with new people and share what he could. Dale and his son Matt shared a love of Mel Brooks and frequently referenced The Two Thousand Year Old Man, as a sort of Gospel. He could be gruff and he could be charming. He will be missed sincerely.

A celebration of Dale's life will be held on a sailboat in Biscayne Bay sometime this year.
