Ivan Delevic Obituary

Ivan Delevic

October 17, 1965 - March 22, 2024

Key Biscayne, Florida - It is with great sadness we announce that Ivan Delevic passed away on March 22, 2024, at age 58, after a courageous two-year journey with cancer. He died peacefully at his home in Key Biscayne, FL surrounded by his loving family.

Ivan was born in 1965 in Bihac, Bosnia to Katalin and Dusan Delevic. Along with his sister Izabela, he grew up in Subotica, Serbia. He left his country to study Electrical Engineering in Hungary at the Budapest University of Technology & Economics where he got an MSc, and later an MBA in Strategic Marketing through a joint program with Herriot-Watt University in Scotland. He began his career at Johnson & Johnson and later continued with GE Healthcare in Budapest, Hungary, where he met his wife. Eventually, they moved to the US and were blessed with three sons. After several career moves, they relocated to Key Biscayne, FL, which they have called home for the past 14 years.

Ivan had a rich and successful professional career in the global medical device industry, marked by his valor to take risks, pursue his vision with tenacity, and never settle for anything less than a win-win situation for all involved. Ivan held executive leadership positions at GE Healthcare, MAKO Surgical, and as CEO at OrthoSensor (both acquired by Stryker Corp.). In his last role, Ivan was Senior VP of Business Development and Strategic Marketing at Insightec, an Israeli-U.S. global healthcare company.

Ivan strove to advance the healthcare industry by helping to launch innovative medical device startups. He served on the Board of several companies and was the Chairman of the Board at Radom Corp. He was a founding member and subsequent director of the Nikola Tesla Foundation to help preserve the legacy and promote the exploration of the renowned inventor's ideas.

Throughout his life, Ivan offered advice, time, and energy to help those around him. His colleagues knew him as a genuine leader, a caring mentor, a man of integrity, vision, and generosity. He was also a dedicated family man who, together with his wife, raised three successful sons. His deep love for his family is unforgettable. Ivan served as an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

Ivan is survived by his wife Zita of 25 years, their sons Aron, Nandor, and Martin, his mother, Katalin, his sister Izabela and brother-in-law Marinko, nieces Nikoleta and Sara, his extended family, and many good friends.

A celebration of Ivan's life will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 10th, 2024 at the Key Biscayne Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in his honor.
