I will always remember Miss Joyce's kind spirit. She was a wonderful soul. May she rest in peace.
Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of meeting Gerard, as they had been divorced for over 50 years before Joyce's passing. However, I look forward to meeting Joyce again one day in Heaven.

Joyce was such a lovely lady. We were fortunate to know her through her son, our dear friend Jim (JW). Years ago, we were so pleased to have Joyce stay at our home on a visit to Topeka. It was a special visit, as our home was originally owned by Dr. & Mrs. Woodworth (dear friends of Dr. Gerard & Ruth Wempe) and where Joyce spent the night in the same room as she did years ago the night before her wedding to Dr. Jerry Wempe. Joyce was a loving, gentle person and adored her family. She will be missed beyond measure. Keeping all the family close in thoughts & prayers.

I have so many wonderful memories of Joyce. One of my favorites was an Easter where the egg cartons got mixed up and we ended up coloring one carton of raw eggs. It was a complete mess when some fell on the floor and true to Joyce´s nature she laughed and laughed as we cleaned raw eggs off the kitchen floor. Joyce always made the best of the situation. Know that she was loved and will be dearly missed.
Sending love and healing.

Julie and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss.
Mrs. Wempe (as I always called her) was like a second mother to me-she was fun and always welcoming. I will always cherish the memories of her kindness and laughter. Please know that my heart is with you and your family during this difficult time, and that your Mother's spirit will never be forgotten.
