James Demos Obituary

DEMOS, JAMES P., 82, passed away July 21, 2004. Born in Charleston, S.C. Attended Miami High and then the University of Miami on a boxing scholarship after winning the Golden Gloves. Boxing Commissioner for the City of Miami. Then served as treasurer of the World Boxing Assoc. for many years. After graduating from the U of M he became a C.P.A. and practiced until the day he passed away. He was a member of "Who's Who" among students in Colleges and Universities, the Iron Arrow, Sigma Chi. He was instrumental in forming the N. Miami Chapter of the AHEPA. He was the backbone of forming the Church of the Annunciation of N. Miami. He landed on D Day in WWII and served for 11 months in the front lines with the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division. Honorably discharged, 10/22/45. James is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kathryn (Athas) Demos; daughter, Dianne (Terry) Hutchins, grandchildren; Chris, Terry Jr., K.C. (Kathryn), Jamie. Brothers Nick (Kittie) Demos, Dr. Mickey (Elsa) Demos, sister Dorothea (Rick) Miller. Visitation from 7- 9 P.M. Sunday July 25, 2004 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home So. 2401 SW 64th Ave. Ft Lauderdale. Funeral Mass Monday, 11 A.M. at Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 12230 NW 2nd Ave, No. Miami.
