Dear Monica, Claudio and extended family . . . We are sorry for the loss of your loving husband, father, and grandfather. We always enjoyed the good times we spent together with you and your kind friendship when we were in Florida. John was a man who knew what he wanted from life and he forged ahead fearlessly to achieve his dreams. He will be a great loss to all who loved him and we will think of him fondly every time we drop our anchor in some unnamed bay with a amber setting sun and a gentle sea breeze blowing from the East.
Love to all,
Ron and Linda

Monica, please know how vey saddened I was to learn about John. Sending my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Regrettably, I missed out on the gift of knowing John. I met him only once briefly but, in fact, we were kindred in our love of the ocean and the Bahamas.
I wish you comfort and the strength to navigate these unknown waters. Above all, be good to yourself.
Sending a warm hug, Arlyn

So sorry to read of Johns passing. I worked with John for many at
Sheehan Buick and Bayshore Marina. We road out a hurricane together on a boat down in black creek in 1965. His memory will
truly be a blessing. My prayers are with you and your family.

Querido John, nuestro abuelo gringo,

John, it was a privilege to know you, to get to spend time with you and learn from your wealth of information. Your zest for life was infectious. Your relationship and love for Monica was awe inspiring. Your respect of the ocean, love for your family and friends and beloved dogs was most admirable. You had this amazing and annoying way of putting me in a good mood even when I was NOT in one. You had no idea what you did, you were just being you. The way you not only helped, but enjoyed and got excited about helping Monica and our business get started and grow was heart warming. You were truly a unique and wonderful man. You will be forever in my head and my heart. And I will always think of you every time I see a blue car.

Remembering John, who will always be with us in every shared laugh, in his sharp insights, in his fine irony, and in that humor that brought us more than one smile. He knew how to get angry, of course, but he always remained calm like a good captain, guiding his crew through life with strength and heart.

I am happy to have been part of that crew alongside Nadezka. In stormy moments, he knew how to find calm. I remember when I was out of work, and LAN had blacklisted me, he once told me, "Tell them that if they don´t hire you, one day you´ll buy that company and fire them all." It was on the boat... a dose of strength to keep moving forward.

I am grateful and deeply touched by the gift of life that was knowing him-for everything we learned from him and for the unique moments he gave us.

Monica, my sincerest condolences and support, now and always. With much affection.

"No one truly dies as long as they are remembered."

John won our affection and the affection of everyone who knew him. When he came to Chile, everyone was enchanted by him-his charm, joviality, eagerness to learn, and his wealth of knowledge. A great conversationalist, storyteller, and a very good man; a wonderful 'Gringo Grandpa' for our daughters.

All of our friends have been deeply moved by the news and send you their love and support.

As for me, it is impossible to travel right now to be with you, but from afar, I am sending you all my energy and affection in these difficult times.

I can only imagine that today, heaven is celebrating, welcoming the captain with a good Rum & Coke and many friends sharing their entertaining stories.

A huge hug for you, Monica, Claudio, and the whole family.

Our condolences to Monica and family. We were lucky to have met John thru Monica and boating in the Bahamas. We would love to see their boat tied up at Blue Water Marina year after year. We enjoyed his very descriptive stories about his and Monicas adventures aboard their boat. He also was a good friend of one of our firefighters (John Sparkman). We will miss his smiling face and great stories

My dear John,

Thank you for loving me as your own granddaughter. You took me in as a lost teenager who didn´t speak any English, brought me to school, and translated for me with a laugh every time I had to mimic my needs.

I will always cherish our time together-our little adventures, trips, and the thousands of stories that made me laugh (repeatedly).

Thank you for teaching me how to fish, how to talk, and how to enjoy the little things-like a cocktail and peanuts.

Because of you, I now know that the love for animals and nature has no limits, and that true happiness lies in enjoying life´s small daily pleasures and spending time with family.

Thank you for being my driver, advisor, teacher, tutor, cook... a truly cool American granddad.

I will forever be grateful. You were the best grandpa ever.

Love you,
Your Pompi.

Dear John,

Thank you for treating me like family, welcoming us into your home, and including us in your precious cocktail time.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to show us your world.

I hope my love for Pompi lasts and endures as much as your love for Monica.

Cheers with a 50/50 Roncola!

John, I came to your life thanks to my great friend Monica. You accepted me immediately and generously made space for me. For more than 40 years I had the joy of sharing many happy moments with you and Monica, in Elliott Key, in the Bahamas and others places. On those trips, I not only saw beautiful sights, but I also got to know your amazing spirit, your passion for life, the ocean and your endless love for Monica. The long conversations of those days strengthened our friendship even more. Thank you for all that. Your passage through this life was a gift for many people. Dear friend, you are an unforgettable person. May your soul rest in great peace. Love you for ever.
